Assistant Professor Charis Kouzinopoulos and Maastricht University are offering a 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲-𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐰𝐨-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐀𝐈. The researcher will work on the design and optimization of neural networks and deep learning architectures for low-power, resource-constrained embedded systems, including SoCs and MCUs (e.g. ARM-based microcontrollers, RISC-V systems and FPGAs). The goal is to
apply state-of-the-art AI techniques for edge devices, including model compression, quantization, neural architecture search and continual learning, to enable localized decision making at the edge
and on-device adaptation while minimizing energy consumption.
The position is based at the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences, Maastricht University (https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/research/department-advanced-computing-sciences), within the newly established Computer Systems research theme. The researcher will perform research on novel architectures and optimization methods for edge AI algorithms, publish results in top-tier conferences
and journals, actively participate in grant acquisition activities and assist with educational tasks.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫:
Position graded in scale 11 according to UFO profile Researcher, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €4537.00 and €6209.00 gross per month. An 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus also apply.
An employment contract for a period of 24 months with a scope of 1.0 FTE.
